Generic Lotensin (benazepril) is an ACE inhibitor. ACE stands for angiotensin converting enzyme. Generic Lotensin is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by relaxing the blood vessels, which helps to lower blood pressure.

This medication may also be used to help protect the kidneys from damage due to diabetes and with other drugs (e.g., "water pills"/diuretics, digoxin) to treat congestive heart failure.

Take Generic Lotensin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. You may take Generic Lotensin with or without food.
